The most famous golden Oscar statue will be handed out to the best of the best at the 2011 Academy Awards, Sunday, February 27.

The Red Carpet show on E! featured the arrivals of presenters and nominees, showcasing the fashion. From Tom Ford to Calvin Klein, the red carpet rolled out great fashion... and some of the worst.

From my professional fashion opinion- Halle Berry looked like a lit-up Christmas tree. WTF was she thinking with that hideous dress.
Carly Behringer agreed, stating that her dress was "wretched." Why did Halle choice this terrible choice...
We will never know.

Nicole Kidman looked like she was wearing a folded napkin crusted with diamonds.

Thank you Scarlett for wearing a see-through red dress on the red carpet tonight.

Natalie Portman glowed in purple off the shoulder gown. Her growing belly stuck out, but as always, she looked... phenomenal. There's one shot for me!

I hope all that are following my blog have enjoyed my Oscar drinking game during the show. Don't forget to let me know how your night turned out!

On the other hand, Sandra Bullock looked stunning in a silky, flowing red dress. Props to her for looking amazing tonight!

Ok, so was James Franco high hosting tonight? He was acting very suspicious after the opening montage. Sydney Benter had a similar reaction, as she said: "I was definitely underwhelmed by the show. I had such high hopes for Anne and James. I think they're truly very funny and talented entertainers. But the show flopped in my eyes. I've read several articles about James Franco's strange aloof behavior during the ceremony. While many have accused him of being high during the show, most of the article I've read featured quotes from people he has worked with that claim he is straight-edge––no drugs or alcohol ever. This shocked me, but it's always possible." Didn't we all? Anne seemed to be the one to hold the show together... well as best as she could.

With speculations that Franco had been high on drugs or drunk, he told reporters that he does not drink nor do drugs. So what was with his odd behavior Oscar night? He said he was just enjoying himself while letting Anne do the work. Gin A. Ando, while not being able to watch the award show agrees with Franco, stating: "Although I did hear some things about James Franco and his strange, offish behavior during the thing, he could've just been nervous? I don't know. Maybe he was pulling some Andy Kauffman stuff and it was all ... well, nevermind. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. But it'd be tough to top Gervais' performance earlier this year."

Touche Gin, touche. Ricky Gervais' performance made the Golden Globes hilarious and entertaining to watch among the dry speeches from the Globe winners.

What do you do when you watch the Oscars?
How about trying out my Oscar Drinking game this time.

Here's how it goes...
Every time an Oscar winner thanks the Director of the film or TV show, you shotgun a can of beer.
Every time an Oscar winner gets cut off by the "get the hell of the stage" music, you take a shot of liqueur.

After the February 27 Oscar Award show, let me know how your night ended.
Did you find my award show game fun? Did you get wasted?
Let me know your reaction to the winner and losers of the night.Megan Fingermanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17774234218444211124noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3702647360813180531.post-65923206509886749442011-02-13T20:41:00.001-05:002011-03-16T15:11:22.004-04:00Grammy's Focus on Performances rather than AwardsI usually focus on the winners of each award show, but the Grammy Awards are completely different. This year, the absolute focus was on the performances by nominees and past award winners.

Starting off the show was a tribute to Aretha Franklin, performed by Christina Aguilera, Florence Welch, Yolanda Adams, Jennifer Hudson and Martina McBride. The compilation of Aretha's hit's lasted almost 15 minutes with outstanding vocals by all women.

By far, the best performance was Lady Gaga's new single, "Born this Way." Of course, her performances are always monumental, but this won was choreographed superbly and just hearing her lyrics that she 100 percent wrote by herself sent chills down my arms. I think that her song sums up the world- everyone is born different and you can't help being born the way that you are, but you should be proud of being you.

"Yeah, I agree, they definitely focused more on performances than the actual awards. I was switching back and forth between the Grammy's and Desperate Housewives for an hour, so I missed some of the performances but I liked most of them! I thought Lady Gaga and Katy Perry were pretty good, as well as Eminem and Dre, etc," Carly Behringer said. While I missed Katy Perry and Eminem's performances, Lady Gaga, as stated was sublime.

Yes, Professor Wilson, I do care about "Lady Gag Me"!

Ok, so I understand that this award show is all about music, but what makes it an award show if all it shows are performances. I have been watching the Grammy's for only 40 minutes and I am bored.

Please forgive me if this is the end of my post... I am bored and tired.

Why are the Grammy's able to get away as being called an award show when they give out less than 10 awards the whole night?

Stephanie responded to my demanding question with the same anger, but sense. "I think they give out so few awards to try to keep the audience entertained. Award shows drag with too many awards, but the same can be said if there are too few given out. I definitely did think the Grammy's were a disappointment this year.Megan Fingermanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17774234218444211124noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3702647360813180531.post-64176566747650204702011-02-12T12:06:00.000-05:002011-02-12T12:06:32.047-05:00Best in Music finally being Honored in 2011With the Grammy Awards coming up this Sunday, who do you think deserves a coveted trophy? The Screen Actors Guild Awards, the latest award show was aired almost two weeks ago, but the winners are still gloating over their statues. The big winner of the night was "The Social Network" and several people agreed with the win.

I have to admit, I agree with him when it comes to "Black Swan". What an intense, well made movie.

The first few award shows honor acting, directing, producing, scoring and more, so when it comes to finding time to see all of the nominated shows, it's quite difficult. Adam Niemeyer and Garrett Sabelhaus mentioned that they are not very much into movies, but still found time between their busy sports writing schedules to put in their two-sense.
One of the most coveted awards for actors and actresses, the SAG awards are voted on by fellow members of the guild, which include actors and actresses only.

One of the most interesting facts that I found when my boyfriend pointed it out to me: in the SAG award statue in the second most expensive to make of all award statues. Must be that granite base to hold up the Shakespearean figure. It also weighs the most, coming in at a whopping 12 pounds! Better not drop one of those on your foot!

While I am far from a fashion expert, E!'s Live on the Red Carpets pre-show, EVERYONE looked amazing. I think so far this year, this is the best dressed award show. From Rosario Dawson in a faded yellow dress to Hilary Swank's off the shoulder tan gown.

... Scratch that. Any award show with Helena Bonham Carter brings the elegant level down a trillion octaves.

OMG Natalie Portman is showing like no ones business!! She's got a major baby bump! Can't wait to see her win for best actress tonight!!

The most hilarious acceptance speech was Betty White's when in the middle of thanking her fellow cast mates, she felt up her statue. HILARIOUS! She's still got it at 89.

Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis introduced Black Swan, as it was nominated for Best Picture. Both looked phenomenal. Yep, I said it. Take a shot of liquor...*

OMG!! Natalie won!!!! Hands down, the classiest acceptance speech all night. I think that if I ever have to give a speech in front of thousands of people, I am going to have Natalie write it for me!

Overall, a successful night for actors and actress, especially for my girl, Natalie.

Congratulations to all the winners and the best is yet to come!

And the Actor goes to...
Outstanding Male Actor in a Drama Series- Steve Buscemi
Outstanding Female Actor in a Drama Series- Julianna Margulies
Outstanding Ensamble in a Drama Series- Boardwalk Empire
Outstanding Female Actor in a Supporting Role- Melissa Leo
Outstanding Male Actor in a Comedy Series- Alec Baldwin
Outstanding Female Actor in a Comedy Series- Betty White
Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy Series- Modern Family
Life Achievement Award- Ernest Borgnine
Outstanding Male Actor in a TV movie or Mini-series- Al Pacino
Outstanding Female Actor in a TV movie or Mini-series- Claire Danes
Outstanding Male Actor in a Supporting Role- Christian Bale
Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role- Natalie Portman
Outstanding Male Actor in a Leading Role- Colin Firth
Outstanding Ensemble Acting- The King's Speech
*A game my family and I play is whenever someones says something is phenomenal, we have to take a shot of some alcohol because seriously, what in life is really that good? Things are exceptional, but there is nothing that is phenomenal, expect Natalie Portman.Megan Fingermanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17774234218444211124noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3702647360813180531.post-72976795963721001932011-01-20T09:57:00.000-05:002011-01-20T09:57:00.892-05:00SAG Awards Celebrate Best among ActorsThe SAG Awards are around the corner, with members of the Screen Actors Guild nominating and voting for who they believe to be worthy of the Shakespearean gold statue. Hopefully we will see more like this at the Oscars from future winners!
Hilarious! He made a great shot toward Hugh Hefner and his teenage bride to be, playing on the 60 year age gap.

Tina Fey and Steve Carell were the best presenters of the night. Luckily, I was able to hold my bladder as they gave synopsis' of the nominees, hysterically. I about died when Carell said something in this fashion- a movie about a couple of lesbians and Fey corrected him by saying a lesbian couple. The two of them together were killer!!

Normally, half way through the show I would get bored and turn on Family Guy or some other entertaining show, but this year, my future wife, (yes, in my wildest dreams) Natalie Portman, is up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama. So, sadly, I have to eagerly await till her category comes up. Oh, yea, and I'm keeping track of the winners for this blog :P
OMG!! NATALIE PORTMAN WON!! I <3 HER!!!

Tonight, we all thank the Hollywood Foreign Press for an amazing show. Ricky Gervais was hilarious, making fun of EVERYONE. No one was off limits and that made a Gervais such a great host.
So far, best award show because Natalie won and she made a shout out to her Grandma here in Cincinnati... that is friends with my Grandma!!

P.S. I apologize for not having an update on the Critic's Choice Awards. While the results can be found on VH1, Natalie won for best actress!!Megan Fingermanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17774234218444211124noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3702647360813180531.post-6743233416441310322011-01-12T13:19:00.000-05:002011-01-12T13:19:27.154-05:00Critic's Choice Awards next up for the 2011 Award Season1/12/11

Just a week after the People's Choice Awards, the infamous Critic's Choice Awards peaks its head this coming Friday, January 14, 2011 on VH1 at 9 p.m. While this is probably the least viewed award show, those that are nominated and win are appreciative to those famous critics that can make or break an actor or actress' career.
Looking forward to watching this for the first year ever? Tune in to VH1 for this low key show that most likely will not have you excited to see the winners. My opinion on a movie is way different than yours or those professional critics, so be prepared for some upsets. The show is blocked to air for two hours, with over 20 awards to be given out. From Best Picture to Best Score, the outcome of this award show is sure to surprise even the most loyal movie fans.

Check back Friday for the list of winners of the Critic's Choice Awards and my take on the show!Megan Fingermanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17774234218444211124noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3702647360813180531.post-33875986319360733372011-01-05T23:02:00.000-05:002011-01-05T23:02:08.671-05:00People's Choice Awards Begin the 2011 Award Season1/5/11

With the New Year underway, the start of the award season 2011 began tonight at 9 p.m. on CBS. With Queen Latifah as this years host, the show, which aired live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles was filled with music performances by Selena Gomez and the Scene, who also won favorite breakout artist, Kid Rock sang his new hit that sounded like a man struggling to get air. I have absolutely no idea what the lyrics to his song were. Pretty much just sounded like a person with a voice box from smoking and drinking too much. Is this foreshadowing Kid Rock's future?

The show was sponsored by Sprint and CVS Pharmacy to mention a few. CVS gave out gift bags to oh so lucky audience members. Items included Secret Clinical Strength deodorant, Pantene haircare and Perfect 10 hair coloring. As Chelsea Handler says: what... a crappy gift bag.

What is up with Khloe Kardashian's new hair color? It looks terrible! It was almost as bad as Queen Latifah's hosting duty. Waaayyy to over dramatic and just blah. Sorry Queen, but I think you should have given up your reign to Kathy Griffin.

Kristen Stewart- all I can say is AWKWARD!

The best award of the night was the last one when Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher gave out the award for best movie, but not because of the winners, but because Natalie Portman was glowing! Pregnancy is treating her well! I <3 Natalie!
