SAG Awards Choose top Actors by Fellow Actors

The 2011 award season continued tonight with the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which aired at 8 p.m. on both TNT and TBS. One of the most coveted awards for actors and actresses, the SAG awards are voted on by fellow members of the guild, which include actors and actresses only.

One of the most interesting facts that I found when my boyfriend pointed it out to me: in the SAG award statue in the second most expensive to make of all award statues. Must be that granite base to hold up the Shakespearean figure. It also weighs the most, coming in at a whopping 12 pounds! Better not drop one of those on your foot!

While I am far from a fashion expert, E!'s Live on the Red Carpets pre-show, EVERYONE looked amazing. I think so far this year, this is the best dressed award show. From Rosario Dawson in a faded yellow dress to Hilary Swank's off the shoulder tan gown.

... Scratch that. Any award show with Helena Bonham Carter brings the elegant level down a trillion octaves.

OMG Natalie Portman is showing like no ones business!! She's got a major baby bump! Can't wait to see her win for best actress tonight!!

The most hilarious acceptance speech was Betty White's when in the middle of thanking her fellow cast mates, she felt up her statue. HILARIOUS! She's still got it at 89.

Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis introduced Black Swan, as it was nominated for Best Picture. Both looked phenomenal. Yep, I said it. Take a shot of liquor...*

OMG!! Natalie won!!!! Hands down, the classiest acceptance speech all night. I think that if I ever have to give a speech in front of thousands of people, I am going to have Natalie write it for me!

Overall, a successful night for actors and actress, especially for my girl, Natalie.

Congratulations to all the winners and the best is yet to come!

And the Actor goes to...
Outstanding Male Actor in a Drama Series- Steve Buscemi
Outstanding Female Actor in a Drama Series- Julianna Margulies
Outstanding Ensamble in a Drama Series- Boardwalk Empire
Outstanding Female Actor in a Supporting Role- Melissa Leo
Outstanding Male Actor in a Comedy Series- Alec Baldwin
Outstanding Female Actor in a Comedy Series- Betty White
Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy Series- Modern Family
Life Achievement Award- Ernest Borgnine

Outstanding Female Actor in a TV movie or Mini-series- Claire Danes
Outstanding Male Actor in a Supporting Role- Christian Bale
Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role- Natalie Portman

*A game my family and I play is whenever someones says something is phenomenal, we have to take a shot of some alcohol because seriously, what in life is really that good? Things are exceptional, but there is nothing that is phenomenal, expect Natalie Portman.

The Classiest Acceptance Speech of the Night

Ok, so by now, you know that I am obsessed with Natalie Portman, but I chose this acceptance speech because it's the most humane and eloquent speeches I have ever heard. Hopefully we will see more like this at the Oscars from future winners!

Golden Globes Bring the Best of TV and Movies together

Ricky Gervais opened the Golden Globe Awards with stabs at Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp and Scientology. Hilarious! He made a great shot toward Hugh Hefner and his teenage bride to be, playing on the 60 year age gap.

Tina Fey and Steve Carell were the best presenters of the night. Luckily, I was able to hold my bladder as they gave synopsis' of the nominees, hysterically. I about died when Carell said something in this fashion- a movie about a couple of lesbians and Fey corrected him by saying a lesbian couple. The two of them together were killer!!

Normally, half way through the show I would get bored and turn on Family Guy or some other entertaining show, but this year, my future wife, (yes, in my wildest dreams) Natalie Portman, is up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama. So, sadly, I have to eagerly await till her category comes up. Oh, yea, and I'm keeping track of the winners for this blog :P

Critic's Choice Awards next up for the 2011 Award Season

1/12/11

Just a week after the People's Choice Awards, the infamous Critic's Choice Awards peaks its head this coming Friday, January 14, 2011 on VH1 at 9 p.m. While this is probably the least viewed award show, those that are nominated and win are appreciative to those famous critics that can make or break an actor or actress' career.
Looking forward to watching this for the first year ever? Tune in to VH1 for this low key show that most likely will not have you excited to see the winners. My opinion on a movie is way different than yours or those professional critics, so be prepared for some upsets. The show is blocked to air for two hours, with over 20 awards to be given out. From Best Picture to Best Score, the outcome of this award show is sure to surprise even the most loyal movie fans.

Check back Friday for the list of winners of the Critic's Choice Awards and my take on the show!

People's Choice Awards Begin the 2011 Award Season

1/5/11

With the New Year underway, the start of the award season 2011 began tonight at 9 p.m. on CBS. With Queen Latifah as this years host, the show, which aired live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles was filled with music performances by Selena Gomez and the Scene, who also won favorite breakout artist, Kid Rock sang his new hit that sounded like a man struggling to get air. I have absolutely no idea what the lyrics to his song were. Pretty much just sounded like a person with a voice box from smoking and drinking too much. Is this foreshadowing Kid Rock's future?

The show was sponsored by Sprint and CVS Pharmacy to mention a few. CVS gave out gift bags to oh so lucky audience members. Items included Secret Clinical Strength deodorant, Pantene haircare and Perfect 10 hair coloring. As Chelsea Handler says: what... a crappy gift bag.

What is up with Khloe Kardashian's new hair color? It looks terrible! It was almost as bad as Queen Latifah's hosting duty. Waaayyy to over dramatic and just blah. Sorry Queen, but I think you should have given up your reign to Kathy Griffin.

Kristen Stewart- all I can say is AWKWARD!

The best award of the night was the last one when Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher gave out the award for best movie, but not because of the winners, but because Natalie Portman was glowing! Pregnancy is treating her well! I <3 Natalie!
