Grammy's Focus on Performances rather than Awards
I usually focus on the winners of each award show, but the Grammy Awards are completely different. This year, the absolute focus was on the performances by nominees and past award winners.
Starting off the show was a tribute to Aretha Franklin, performed by Christina Aguilera, Florence Welch, Yolanda Adams, Jennifer Hudson and Martina McBride. The compilation of Aretha's hit's lasted almost 15 minutes with outstanding vocals by all women.
By far, the best performance was Lady Gaga's new single, "Born this Way." Of course, her performances are always monumental, but this won was choreographed superbly and just hearing her lyrics that she 100 percent wrote by herself sent chills down my arms. I think that her song sums up the world- everyone is born different and you can't help being born the way that you are, but you should be proud of being you.
"Yeah, I agree, they definitely focused more on performances than the actual awards. I was switching back and forth between the Grammy's and Desperate Housewives for an hour, so I missed some of the performances but I liked most of them! I thought Lady Gaga and Katy Perry were pretty good, as well as Eminem and Dre, etc," Carly Behringer said. While I missed Katy Perry and Eminem's performances, Lady Gaga, as stated was sublime.
Yes, Professor Wilson, I do care about "Lady Gag Me"!
Ok, so I understand that this award show is all about music, but what makes it an award show if all it shows are performances. I have been watching the Grammy's for only 40 minutes and I am bored.
Please forgive me if this is the end of my post... I am bored and tired.
Why are the Grammy's able to get away as being called an award show when they give out less than 10 awards the whole night?
Stephanie responded to my demanding question with the same anger, but sense. "I think they give out so few awards to try to keep the audience entertained. Award shows drag with too many awards, but the same can be said if there are too few given out. I definitely did think the Grammy's were a disappointment this year.

Best in Music finally being Honored in 2011

Are the Best Movies and TV Shows being recognized this Award Season?
As the 2011 award season continues, many of the blog followers have shared their opinion on who they are pulling for. The Screen Actors Guild Awards, the latest award show was aired almost two weeks ago, but the winners are still gloating over their statues. The big winner of the night was "The Social Network" and several people agreed with the win.
"I'm torn between Social Network and Black Swan, both were great movies that I wouldn't mind seeing again," Dion Webb said when I asked who you wanted to win a SAG award. I have to admit, I agree with him when it comes to "Black Swan". What an intense, well made movie.
The first few award shows honor acting, directing, producing, scoring and more, so when it comes to finding time to see all of the nominated shows, it's quite difficult. Adam Niemeyer and Garrett Sabelhaus mentioned that they are not very much into movies, but still found time between their busy sports writing schedules to put in their two-sense.
"I'll be 100% honest with you, I rarely watch any movies, but the one I saw this year was "The Social Network," and even though I don't have a Facebook account (I tweet!) I was thoroughly enthralled with the storyline from beginning to end," Niemeyer said.
Looks like "The Social Network" was a front runner according to our followers in their choice for best movie of the year.
Which TV show did they pull for?
"Steve Buscemi winning an award makes me inextricably happy. I love the guy and I'm glad he's doing so well in "Boardwalk Empire," Gin A. Ando said after the award show aired. Buscemi and "Boardwalk Empire" were the big TV show winners of the night, as the cast won the award for outstanding ensemble in a drama series.
Sam Elliot agreed by saying: "Yeah for being so goofy looking, Steve Buscemi is an awesome actor and from the limited episodes I've seen of "Boardwalk Empire," he and the show deserve their awards."

SAG Awards Choose top Actors by Fellow Actors
The 2011 award season continued tonight with the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which aired at 8 p.m. on both TNT and TBS. One of the most coveted awards for actors and actresses, the SAG awards are voted on by fellow members of the guild, which include actors and actresses only.
One of the most interesting facts that I found when my boyfriend pointed it out to me: in the SAG award statue in the second most expensive to make of all award statues. Must be that granite base to hold up the Shakespearean figure. It also weighs the most, coming in at a whopping 12 pounds! Better not drop one of those on your foot!
While I am far from a fashion expert, E!'s Live on the Red Carpets pre-show, EVERYONE looked amazing. I think so far this year, this is the best dressed award show. From Rosario Dawson in a faded yellow dress to Hilary Swank's off the shoulder tan gown.
... Scratch that. Any award show with Helena Bonham Carter brings the elegant level down a trillion octaves.
OMG Natalie Portman is showing like no ones business!! She's got a major baby bump! Can't wait to see her win for best actress tonight!!
The most hilarious acceptance speech was Betty White's when in the middle of thanking her fellow cast mates, she felt up her statue. HILARIOUS! She's still got it at 89.
Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis introduced Black Swan, as it was nominated for Best Picture. Both looked phenomenal. Yep, I said it. Take a shot of liquor...*
OMG!! Natalie won!!!! Hands down, the classiest acceptance speech all night. I think that if I ever have to give a speech in front of thousands of people, I am going to have Natalie write it for me!
Overall, a successful night for actors and actress, especially for my girl, Natalie.
Congratulations to all the winners and the best is yet to come!

SAG Awards Celebrate Best among Actors
The SAG Awards are around the corner, with members of the Screen Actors Guild nominating and voting for who they believe to be worthy of the Shakespearean gold statue. Nominees were announced December 16, 2010 and voted on by the SAG members. The award show airs Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 8 p.m. on TNT and TBS.

The Classiest Acceptance Speech of the Night
Ok, so by now, you know that I am obsessed with Natalie Portman, but I chose this acceptance speech because it's the most humane and eloquent speeches I have ever heard. Hopefully we will see more like this at the Oscars from future winners!
